(1) Some slight earthworks lie close to the North Front of Stowe House, centred at SP 6725 3753. They comprise a tree hole and two short lengths of bank. Map evidence suggests that the tree hole dates from the 19th century - there is no planting on this site depicted until the 1880 OS map. The banks are difficult to interpret. There is some ridge and furrow on the other side of the Course (SP 63 NE 111)(SMR 155128), but the banks could well be the result of post-medieval activity here. The features were recorded at a scale of 1:2500 during the course of the EH survey of Stowe Park for the National Trust.
