The 3/4 mile long Wolverhampton Junction Railway between Stafford Road and Cannock Road Junction was authorised to the GWR in 1852. It was a mixed gauge line, and vital to the GWR and Shrewsbury and Birmingham companies in their battle with the LNWR in the Wolverhampton area. The line was lifted after the Shrewsbury and Birmingham trains were switched to the High Level line on electrification in 1969.
