Golfcourse double-level green, 21m x 23m. The golfcourse (125641) was constructed in the late 19th century and is shown on the 1898 OS map. It covered a large area of West High Down and its surviving earthworks consist of raised tee platforms, greens and bunkers. By the orientation of the bunkers it seems that the course was played W to E on the N side and E to W on the S side. The clubhouse was the building built by the Totland Bay Hotel Company, now standing at the junction of the Old and New Alum Bay roads (not NT). The course fell into disuse after WWII. [SNA63099]
