A multivallate hillfort is visible as a cropmark on air photographs. The defences consist of three concentric (circular) ditches situated on a slight plateau overlooking the River Breamish (to the south). The outer ditch is appreciably broader than the two inner ditches. A road truncates the enclosure and consequently the north-western third is no longer visible. If the enclosure were truly circular the outer perimeter would contain an area approximately 0.86ha. The inner-most ditch encloses an area roughly 0.12ha; and the ditches spaced approximately 9 metres apart.
