The London Necropolis Company was incorporated to establish an extensive cemetery alongside the main London - Southampton line in 1852. A 3/4 mile long track was laid from Brookwood, where the station was built in 1864 at the companys expense, into the cemetery. The `Necropolis Train ran from a special station adjoining Waterloo, daily at first, then more frequently, until the station was bombed during World War II. Closed 1945.
