Seven possible building platforms adjacent to NW side of Roman fort (PRN 866) (Jones & Thompson 1958). Possibly represents part of a civilian settlement associated with the fort. Roman pottery and building material finds were made in area.
Trial excavacation in vicus in response to SMC application: 14 test pits excavated to surface of archaeological deposits. Survey revealed modern linear features (field drains) and Roman road. Building platforms well-defined and had compacted floors where examined (Jones, N W 1990, 54; Frere, S S 1991, 224).
