N face of Clayton Wall from the junction with the field wall at NY77416841 to the butt end of the Wall at NY77906858. Length 539m, the condition of the Wall ranges from poor at the W end to good at the E end, with a distinct change in the type of masonary coming at about 304m, from roughly cut irregular stones to regular courses with dressed stones. 1: 30m, 2 Roman courses, bulge at 9m, 14.7m, top course loose. Possible W facing stepped offset at 14.8m (Clayton Wall Survey F17, F18). 10: 30m, 3-4 Roman courses with crumbly mortar, bulge at 4.7m, 12.4m, 27.5m, collapse at 9.2m. Regular courses start at 14m. (Clayton Wall Survey F18, F19). 11: 30m, up to 3 Roman courses with loose, crumbly mortar, bulge at 1.7m, 23.1, 28.6m, stone missing at base of Wall at 10m. (Clayton Wall Survey F19, F20). 12: 30m, 1-2 Roman courses with loose mortar, bulge at 6.4, 15.8, where the bulge pushes out 1 Roman course, 24.4m, 27.2m. (Clayton Wall Survey F20, F21). 13: 30m, footings only Roman, bad bulge at 29-30m, imminent danger of collapse.
