Bevan records an earthen boundary bank and ditch which runs onto the moorland from valley-side intakes above Edale (Barnatt 1993a). The boundary overlies one series of hollow-ways but stops short at another series forming part of the same route (feature 23). The boundary does not appear on any historical maps of the area available to the present survey. This, and the mismatch with the present field layout (as shown in 1839 (anon.), indicates that the boundary was disused by this date. It may have been an earlier, or intended line for the top wall of the intakes that was left incomplete or not followed by the intake wall [SNA62136].
