remains of Farmstead at Curbar Gap, Longshaw Estate
Just off the footpath running through the property is the remains of a farmstead. A number of walls are clearly missing and the highest at which any of the other remain is 0.5 m., due to extensive robbing in the past. The layout consists of three rooms or bays terraced into the hillside. the walls are of coursed gritstone rubble apparently unmortared. On one internal face traces of plaster remain. The buildings are shown on the tithe map for Curbar in 1848. No large scale surveys or excavations have been carried out.
