DEVILS DYKE

An Iron age promontory fort possibly overlying an earlier fort; Neolithic flints and a human inhumation found. There is also a c1817 hotel and the remains of steep grade railway and cable car.

COCK HILL

Late 6th-early 7th century Saxon round barrow seen as earthworks. Excavation in 1933 found an inhumation and associated buckle slide. Microliths were present in the mound material. In the Post-Mediaeval period, it was used as a cockpit.
