"A charter of Bishop Neville, dated 1.5.1451, directs that two boundary stones marked with a cross be erected in the grounds of Hett, and two others, also marked with a cross, be erected in the grounds of Tursdale. There are no traces of the boundary stones. {ref. 1}

A Neolithic stone axe was found in the summer of 1909 near to Bolton Chapel while digging a drain close to some hitherto unnoticed earthworks. The axe is now in Barrow In Furness Museum. The earthworks, now almost completely ploughed flat, appear to have been old field banks.
