BLACKETT COLLIERY

The colliery was opened in 1873 by Mr John Dickinson; run by Blackett Colliery Company Limited in 1886, and was possibly run by Blackett and South Tyne Collieries in around 1910-1925. The colliery closed in 1927.

WHEAL ELIZA

Wheal Eliza mine was active between 1845 and 1857 worked for copper and then iron. The complex is visible as a series of shafts, spoil heaps, a range of ruined buildings, the remains of two leats, a wheel pit and a tail race. The two parts of the complex are linked by a modern footbridge.

JANE PIT ENGINE HOUSE

LUDWORTH TOWER

SALISBURY SHAFT

Remains of the Salisbury Shaft complex, a 19th century tin or copper mine. Intensive work began on the site in 1850, with the installation of a pumping engine. A stamps or winding engine was added in 1864 and by the mid 1860s the mine was producing about 5000 tons of copper ore each year....
