Farm in the Marteg valley. On the St Harmon Tithe Schedule of 1839, the tennant was Meredith Powell, who was also the tennant of Lechan (both being part of the Rhydoldog Estate). Gilfach at that time covered 78 acres and 4 poles (Thompson, T, 1999, 107-8).
